CURRENT & UPCOMING EVENTS

Hard Times/Down Home

The exhibit “Hard Times/Down Home” at the Watchung Arts Center (Watchung,  NJ) asks artists to respond to “the economic collapse of 2008…coming on the heels of financial excesses of the prior 5 or so years…Is ‘Greed is Good’ still valid,  and where do we go from here?” Anne Sailer’s mixed media piece entitled, “Flow and Release:  The Art of Allowing a Spiritual Relationship with Money,” is part of this show (which opens this coming weekend).  The reception takes place on Sunday, May 3rd, from 1 pm to 4 pm,  at the Watchung Arts Center.

Spring Innovations II at ACL Gallery

The Arts Council of Livingston has invited Stefanie Silverman to be a guest artist in its show “Spring Innovations II” at the ACL Gallery in Livingston Town Center, April 1 through June 26. Two of Stefanie’s “Forest Dream” paintings are being exhibited in the show. Gallery hours are Wed., Fri., Sat. noon to 8 pm, and Thurs. noon to 7 pm. On Thursday, May 7, from 5 to 7 pm the gallery will host a “Meet the Artists” event for the public.

Alonzo F. Bonsal Preserve

The Alonzo F. Bonsal Wildlife Preserve is one of Stefanie’s favorite places in town, and she is flattered that the Friends of the Bonsal Preserve has decided to use one of her paintings of Bonsal on the cover of its new brochure. The 21-acre nature preserve of forest and wetlands on the Montclair-Clifton border is home to many species of birds, animals, and plants and is a wonderful place to enjoy nature. The 10th annual cleanup of the preserve will be held on Saturday, April 4, from 10:00 am through the afternoon, rain or shine. The preserve entrance is on Riverview Drive, off of Alexander Avenue. For a copy of the brochure or to learn more about Bonsal, contact Jonathan Grupper at JGrupper@verizon.net.

The Montclair Breast Center sells jewelry and art objects and donates all of the profits to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC). Anne designed the earrings (see below) with the intention of supporting their mission and supporting breast health across the nation and around the world. These earrings are available for sale at the Montclair Breast Center and through Anne’s Etsy store (annesailer.etsy.com).
